Overview: To investigate, negotiate and conclude by settlement assigned claims through telephone, personal contact, and/or written correspondence. These duties are performed consistent with company claim's policies and procedures, prescribed authority and standards of performance. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities: Receives assigned claims (which can be complex in nature) and determines course of action.
Processes claims which includes the following activities: establish initial contact with all potential third parties and their carriers or attorneys, conduct claim investigation, analyze investigational data, settle claims through negotiation, litigation or arbitration, process expenses/recoveries, prepares check requisitions, closes claims and secures appropriate releases.
Documents claims files and maintain control of work through documentation or diary system.
Ensures compliance with company, state and federal regulations.
Attends claims seminars and workshops.
Skills and Qualifications Required: High School diploma 3 - 5 years auto claims experience. South Carolina or Rhode Island adjusters license required within 3 months of hire.
Preferred: College degree 1-2 years appraisal experience preferred. 1-3 years auto liability experience. Multi line experience a plus.
