Seeking a Dynamic Auto Physical Damage Appraiser / Estimator?

Position Summary We are currently seeking a dynamic Auto Physical Damage (APD) Appraiser in South Bay San Jose, California area. Candidates must live between Milpitas and San Mateo. Work independently and remotely from your home! Our company also provides a company car, laptop computer, cell phone, and other required equipment to ensure your success!
This exciting job appraises and investigates customer reported damages. Receive electronic appraisal assignments. Through initiative and follow-through, setting appointments with customers for appraisal completion will be required. You will have the opportunity to review, explain, and negotiate completed damage estimates with customers and shops. Issue payments on appropriate claims as well as document claims system and communicate with inside adjusters.
About Us The Unitrin Property and Casualty Insurance Group is made up of Kemper and Unitrin Specialty, which sell personal lines and commercial auto insurance through a network of independent agents; and Unitrin Direct, which sells personal auto and homeowners insurance directly to consumers.

Position Requirements • This level of knowledge is generally acquired through a college degree or equivalent work experience. • Requires a preferred minimum of 3 years experience related to auto damage appraisal. • Experience creating auto damage appraisals with an emphasis on auto body repair and refinishing is a must. • Additional experience related to the repair of mechanical, frame, suspension and other related automotive components are of added benefit. • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) and/or ICAR (Interindustry Conference on Automotive Industry Repair) certifications preferred. • Experience creating computerized appraisals on approved software is required. • Experience creating damage appraisals related to damage sustained by watercraft, motorcycles, heavy equipment, commercial vehicles and all other property types other than family auto or truck. • Interpersonal skills must be adequate to effectively negotiate fair and equitable settlements of all amounts required to restore the damaged property to its pre-accident condition pursuant to all recognized industry and company standards. • Excellent time management skills. • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
