Job Description: Promotes proper image of Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance. Investigates, evaluates, negotiates and concludes all claims assigned in a prompt, fair, courteous and professional manner. Supports the Company and the Property/SIU Manager regarding all established guidelines and procedures. Reports directly to the Unit Claims Coordinator from whom overall work direction is received. Also receives direction from Director of Claims, Property/SIU Manager, or from company Specialists. Provides fair, prompt and courteous claims service. Adheres to established Company guidelines and procedures. Monitors all assigned claims and keeps them updated and properly reserved. Discusses potential serious losses with Ucc or Property/SIU manager. Adheres to all laws pertaining to claims settlements. Notifies underwriting of needed risk evaluations. Secures needed documents, maintains proper file requirements, and documents all transactions. Establishes and promotes good working relationships within all Company divisions. Establishes positive relationships with insureds, claimants, and the general public through professional conduct and appearance.Maintains all Company issued equipment.Maintains an educational program and stays current with the insurance and repair industries. Assists in taking losses when needed, and provides assistance to other claims personnel when needed. Performs other duties as assigned by Management, including but not limited to, working catastrophe duty, participating in round table discussions, and assisting with customer concerns. The incumbent will cover an area that ecompasses 10-12 counties in the western, west central part of the state. Required Skills: Requires a High School diploma or GED equivalent. College degree not essential, but a definite asset. Requires work experience and a basic knowledge of evaluation and negotiation of Property claims which would have provided exposure to working with the public, resolving conflicts and completing assignments under limited direction. Requires effective oral, written and listening communication skills. Requires excellent telephone communication skills. Requires an understanding of the Company’s general philosophy and goals, and consistently projects the proper Company image and philosophy in dealing with people. Requires the ability to work independently and make independent decisions. Must demonstrate organizational abilities.Requires the ability to work the number of hours needed to complete job requirements.Requires the visual capability to effectively operate the computer system. Familiarity with computer keyboard functions is required. Requires level specific training as warranted by responsibility. Requires valid driver’s license and physical mobility to travel. Must be physically capable of lifting 50 lbs. Must have physical ability to access roof and crawl spaces and other required physical duties/tasks.
