SUMMARY: Aggressively investigate lost time claims, determine compensability, and assert our customers legal rights to pay or deny the claim.
PRIMARY DUTIES: Conduct initial investigation of lost time claims to resolve compensability, coverage and offset issues on new notices. If controverted or coverage is unconfirmed, retain and manage assigned claims to conclusion. If non-controverted and coverage is confirmed, refer claims to Unit Manager for assignment to a Case Manager. Conduct complete investigation of questionable claims, including timely 3-point contact (insured, injured worker and doctor). Develop litigation strategy with Hearing Representative or Defense Counsel on litigated claims. On retained cases, input estimates to reflect exposure.
EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY: College degree or equivalent work experience
WORK EXPERIENCE: 2 to 3 years Workers Compensation claim handling experience.
OTHER: Complete understanding of all policy, coverage and endorsement implications, and AOE/COE issues. Strong investigation skills, including taking statements. Current on jurisdictional laws and regulations.
