This position is responsible for the investigation, negotiation, and resolution by settlement of all first and third party automobile total loss claims.


The duties of this position include:

- Investigation, coverage analysis, and settlement (as appropriate) of 1st and 3rd party automobile total loss claims.

- Negotiation of settlements with vehicle owners.

- Monitoring and management of loss adjustment expenses and the establishment and monitoring of loss reserves.

- Accountable for compliance with state, company, and federal regulations regarding handling of total loss claims.

- Responsible for related automobile salvage issues.

- Processing releases, state forms, and all forms applicable to the handling of total loss claims.


To be successful in this position the following is required:
- A minimum one to three years experience handling automobile total loss claims for a P&C insurance carrier.

- Superior communication, presentation and negotiation skills as well as excellent organizational and time management skills.

- Must be proficient with Microsoft software and able to enter data effectively and efficiently via keyboard.

- Two to three years experience handling personal and commercial lines automobile total loss claims for a P&C carrier.

- Must obtain Insurance Adjuster's license in the state of Rhode Island within six months of hire date.

- Minimal travel may be required
