SUMMARY: Handle/provide expertise in adjusting large, complex property claims in excess of $25,000, (with an average value of $100,000 - $250,000 (+)) and business interruption losses in excess of $10,000. Adjust/co-adjust/supervise large building losses and write estimates of repairs on both fully assigned and co-adjusted claims. Have responsibility for application of technical expertise and experience.
PRIMARY DUTIES: Adjust/co-adjust/supervise large, complex property claims. Be available to field offices as a consultant on issues of coverage and damages. Evaluate and investigate fraud and arson cases; direct/manage investigations with experts. Qualify as expert/testify as to findings in court as appropriate. Select and supervise legal counsel for litigation management. Investigate facts of loss and coverage; evaluate, negotiate or decline settlement of claim. Develop scope of building losses; write repair estimates and direct scope of loss; secure agreed prices with contractors; evaluate losses and assess the types of experts needed. Contact and manage experts. Investigate, recognize and develop subrogation and salvage recovery potential. Communicate claims status and summaries of claim activities to field offices. Train one-on-one in co-adjusted claims, including taking a claim rep or supervisor to loss site. Conduct field office training sessions. Coordinate the training needs of the field offices as indicated by general adjuster. Participate as storm team member to handle large storm/catastrophe loses. Establish and operate storm offices in situations that do not qualify for a CAT coordinator/supervisor at request of field office. Interact with agents and brokers on a regional basis for customer service. Support to marketing departments in attracting and retaining crucial SAM/CAM accounts. Provide ongoing counsel regarding conflict/problem resolution and verification of work performance goals. Ability to work in a position with frequent exposure to noise, dirt, or odors; or where work may be performed in a confined or restricted area. Work generally involves occupational risks, some examples of which are burns, cuts, nausea from exposure to fumes, or back injury sustained while assisting in the moving or lifting of equipment or materials. Duties also include exertion in transporting materials or equipment, lifting, moving, or carrying heavy materials off and on throughout the day.
CERTIFICATES/DEGREES: An adjusters license may be required pursuant to applicable state statutes.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Advanced communications skills are required to understand, interpret and convey highly technical information to others.
OTHER: Expert/mastery knowledge or skill level in claims. A basic working knowledge/skill level in accounting, administrative support, products, financial analysis, litigation, mathematics/statistics, and personal lines products. Demonstrate creative problem solving and analytical skills. . Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize. Demonstrated leadership skills. Ability to plan and coordinate with other organizational units and resources
