Job Title - Technical Specialist Property Location - Philadelphia, PA
SUMMARY: Investigate, evaluate, reserve, negotiate and settle assigned claims in accordance with Best Practices. Provide quality claim handling and superior customer service on assigned claims while engaging in indemnity and expense management. Promptly manage claims by completing essential functions including contacts, investigation, damages, development, evaluation, reserving, litigation management and disposition.
PRIMARY DUTIES: - Manage specialty and larger, more complex COMMERCIAL and PERSONAL lines claims. - On site inspections - Settle claims in compliance with Property Best Practices. - Maintain claim files and activities in accordance with established procedures. - Participate and successfully complete continuous training sessions in preparation for advancement. - Participate in mentoring and training of new property employees. - Complete field inspection of losses including accurate scope of damages, photographs, written estimates and/or computer assisted estimates. - Investigate and evaluate all relevant facts to determine coverage, damages and liability of first-party property damage claims. - Write denial letters, Reservation of Rights and other complex correspondence. - Control damages through proper usage of cost containment tools. - Maintain an effective diary system and document claim file activities in accordance with established procedures. - Manage file inventory to ensure timely resolution of cases. - Handle files in compliance with state regulations where applicable. - Provide excellent customer service to meet the needs of the insured, agent and all other internal and external customers. - Identify and refer claims with MCU exposure to supervisor. - Recognize when to refer claims to Special Investigation Unit and/or Subrogation Unit. - Act as a technical resource for Claim Representatives. - Perform administrative functions such as expense accounts, time-off reporting, etc. as required. - Access and inspect all areas of a dwelling or structure including tight spaces such as attic, staircases, entries and crawl spaces. Lift, carry, unfold and set up ladder weighing approximately 38 pounds; climb ladder; transition to and from ladder to area requiring inspection; walk on roof.. - Perform any other duties as required.
This is to confirm that as part of your job responsibilities, it is a possibility that you will participate in multiple CAT Tours each calendar year. Each CAT Tour deployment would range in duration from 14 to 30 days. EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY: College degree or equivalent business discipline.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUISITE SKILLS: - Skills assessment evaluation may be required. - Five years outside property experience required. - Physical agility, ability to climb, lift, stoop and bend. - COMMERCIAL and PERSONAL line claim handling experience required. - Strong customer service skills. - Experience handling Business Interruption, Fidelity and Heavy Equipment claims is preferred - Strong investigative skills. - Ability to write Xactimate estimates up to $150,000.00. - Capable of verification and referencing contractor estimates. - Good decision making and problem solving skills. - Knowledge of claim workflow. - Self-motivated, take-charge attitude, teamwork oriented. - Strong negotiating, scoping, Xactimate estimating skills. - Valid Drivers License required.
This position requires either the use of a company care or 6,000 reimbursable miles. Therefore, any offer of employment will be contingent upon receipt of an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
