DESCRIPTION
I. Position Summary
Independently investigate one or more lines of the most
complex claims under minimal supervision. Using established
company and client requirements, procedures, practices and
policies, determine investigative strategy. Decide on
conclusion of loss based upon analysis of the facts,
liability and applicable rules and laws. Determine if
coverage exists and extent of all damages; promptly establish
and maintain accurate reserves.
II. Essential Functions
1. Investigate (field or otherwise) all losses, evaluate
liability and damages, identify and pursue subrogation
and/or salvage and prepare proper reports as required.
2. Develop strategy and negotiate claims to a timely conclusion.
3. Determine need for and direct defense counsel, independent
adjusters, other experts; monitor and control their costs.
4. Verify, analyze and appropriately apply coverage.
5. Keep clients, insurers and appropriate staff personnel advised
of file status.
6. Successfully complete relevant company sponsored, or other,
continuing education.
III. Skill
Knowledge of claims investigation, settlement procedures, and
applicable state laws and industry standards. Demonstrate
oral and written communication, quantitative, problem-solving
and analytical skills. Excellent negotiation skills and knowledge
of legal/medical/insurance terminology and practices.
IV. Experience
Three or more years of claims experience.
V. Supervision Of Others
N/A
VI. Relationships
Good human relation skills including the ability to work in
conjunction with other administrative, management, supervisory
and support positions.
